Currently Antonio Aguerre is Commercial Manager of SELECTA SRL, representative for Uruguay of Select Sires and Select Debernardi. He leads the sales team in order to contribute to the transformation of traditional livestock farming towards precision livestock farming. In that sense, genetic improvement has a lot of information and development to add value and adaptability to the world to come.
As an independent professional he works as an agricultural consultant for Uruguay and abroad. Its main focus is livestock and agricultural sustainability, a concept on which it is constantly training and updating.
Antonio worked for 10 years in charge of IN VITRO URUGUAY Operations, in the production of IN VITRO embryos and simultaneously in the marketing of bovine semen, first for Alta Genetics and then for his own venture, Genexys. Previously, he had already taken his first job steps within the sector, while studying a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Management, a career that he complemented with a Master’s Degree in Agribusiness at the Austral University. He also works as a Primary Production Protocol Auditor at LSQA.
“The possibility of collaborating in family livestock businesses since I was little has been of great help in this journey, since it has allowed me to gain a lot of experience to later apply in the positions that I have had to occupy.
I have always worked closely in institutions such as the Rural Youth Association of Uruguay, of which I was President, as well as the Australian Merino Breeders Society, the Braford Breeders Society and the Angus Breeders Society in Uruguay.
I specialized, both through studies and work experience in agribusiness management, in the development and management of teams, processes and also in the commercial area. I consider continuing this path of learning and specialization essential to being able to integrate teams that add value, build trust and generate sustainability.”
